Hanna Kronqvist, soprano
Hanna
Kronqvist began her vocal studies at the Pirkanmaa Music Institute
in 1992. Since 1996 she has studied opera singing at the Sibelius
Academy, Helsinki with Anita Välkki.
In 2002 she was awarded second prize at the Timo Mustakallio singing
competition. In the same year Kronqvist also featured as a finalist
in the National Lappeenranta Singing Competition. In Summer 2005
she will perform as a competitor in the Salmela Arts Centre’s
Merikanto competition. In Autumn 2005 she will be heard as Susanna in Mozart's Le nozze di Fiagaro in Pori.
Her opera roles include Kaisa in Aarre Merikanto’s
Juha (Savonlinna Opera Festival), Pamina in Mozart’s Magic
Flute (Pori Opera), Vitellia in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito
(Sibelius Academy), Hyacinthus in Apollo et Hyacinthus (Sibelius
Academy) and Rosalinde in Johann Strauss Jr.’s Die Fledermaus
(The Bat) (Sibelius Academy). She has also appeared in musical roles
in Tampere Theatre’s Evita and Carmen Negra and in Turku City
Theatre’s Sweet Charity.
She has also made appearances in recitals in Riga including a performance
at the Finnish Independence Day Reception held at the Finnish Embassy
in 2001. She also completed a French tour as a pianist with Ilmo
Ranta (Paris, Amiens, Lille).
Hanna Kronqvist has appeared as a concert soloist with several
Finnish orchestras. Her concert repertoire includes solo parts in
Handel’s Messiah, J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion and
Christmas Oratorio, Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Chorale
Fantasy op. 80, the three-voice Mass of César Franck and
the Eastern cantata Triduum Paschale by J. Kostiainen and Carl Orff’s
Carmina Burana.
